Dr. María Elena Soto Entensa, head of the Primary Health Care (Atención Primaria de Salud, APS) Department of the Ministry of Public Health, informed this Monday that vaccination against Covid-19 for those allergic to Thiomersal will begin this week throughout the country.

The specialist explained in a television appearance that the children allergic to this compound will be vaccinated this week since the necessary doses are already available and the pertinent organizational measures have been taken in specific vaccination sites for this population group.

She added that the process will include adults with the same type of allergy in the coming days, as well as Covid 19 convalescents who have recovered for at least two months.

In case of the convalescent minors, she added, they will be vaccinated later, as soon as clearance is granted.

The vaccination is currently being carried out throughout the country and the municipalities that have not yet been immunized are being included in all provinces.

In this sense, Soto Entensa highlighted the efforts made by the authorities and health professionals to reach rural and difficult to access areas, so that no one is left unattended.

On the other hand, he referred to the progress of the vaccination in pediatric ages, which began last September 3rd and which has been extended to reach the youngest children, always with wide participation of parents and relatives in general as well as the Ministers of Education and Health.

On Friday, September 17th, the application of the second dose of Abdala to students of 12th grade, third year of technical schools and third and fourth year of teachers training schools will begin.
