483 of the 8434 new positive identified cases of Covid- 19 are from La Habana

Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, September 18th, stated that, 8434 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 801 367.

To date, 6796 deaths by coronavirus (63 belong to the day) have been reported, and 39 616 active cases of which 39 155 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 7834(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 754 898(94.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 137 critical patients and 324 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 483 belong to the capital, of them 479 are native and 4 imported. We regret 5 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Cerro, Boyeros, Havana Vieja, Habana del Este and Diez de Octubre (1 death each).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased placing the capital in fortieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros (48), Arroyo Naranjo and Diez de Octubre (46), Habana del Este (43), La Lisa (40), Marianao (35), Centro Habana (31), Playa (32), Guanabacoa (30), Plaza de la Revolución and Habana Vieja (28), Cotorro (25), San Miguel del Padrón (20), Cerro (16), and Regla,15.

57 131 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 8434 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 9 005 465 analyzed samples of which 792 933 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases, 8401 people were contacts of confirmed cases; 22 with source of infection from abroad and 11 with unknown source of infection.

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 4.4 %(358), for a total of 124 319 which represents 15.5% of the confirmed cases to date.

Of the 8434 confirmed cases, 1867 were under 20 years of age; 2061 between 20 and 39; 2659 between 40 and 59 and 1847, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in September 18th, 2021 is 0.84% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.05% for the world and the 2.46 % for the Americas region.
