Havana´s Biennale will begin next November 12th, 2021

Under the motto Future and Contemporaneity it blossoms the 14th Biennale of Havana, one of the most expected and prestigious events of the visual arts in Cuba and in the Third World.

The event, which arrives with structural modifications in its regular design, will last almost six months, from November 12th this year to April 30th, 2022.

It has been conceived in a dynamic, changing and dialectic way, pointed out Nelson Ramírez de Arellano Conde, director of the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wilfredo Lam, in a press conference offered by the Sala Abelardo Estorino curatorial team of the Ministry of Culture.

This event, adapted to the new reality forced by Covid-19 outbreak, seeks for the articulation between the virtual scene and in person attendance, by adding experiences lived by artists, critics and curators from different latitudes, especially from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Covid -19 pandemic has strengthen economic, politic and social conflicts so that reality forces us to analyze the way we have walked through in order to elaborate a narrative with a more viable and sustainable future.

According to the organizers of the event, it will be divided into three stages: Experience 1: Preface (It will combine in- person attendance with virtual spaces , gathering the speech of personalities of different fields of the critic investigation about present and the construction of a more promising and inclusive future); Experience 2:  The Havana of the Biennale( It will be an open call on which Cuban art will play the main role) and Experience 3: Return to future(It will be a link, a dialogue and a closure to the other stages. It will be structured by several projects and a curatorial exhibition that will be developed at Pabellón Cuba and estación cultural de Línea).
