A great concern due to the increase of children infected with Covid-19 in recent days was shared by the highest authorities of the capital in the meeting of the Temporary Working Group for the control and prevention of the pandemic on Tuesday.

The meeting was aimed at reviewing the causes that motivate these results as well as to make an assessment of the places where there is a greater lack of risk perception.

When analyzing people’s opinions, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, member of the Central Committee and Prime Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the city, commented about complaints done by the people in regard with biosecurity rules non-compliances and the lack of social distancing in the public transportation.

The situation originated by the increase of pediatric positive cases played an important role in the meeting with the government authorities.

Reinaldo Zapata, Governor of Havana, checked out the measures taken in isolation centers in order to get a better feeding balance starting from the available resources. In regard with the University of the Informatics’ Sciences he insisted on the issue of completing the human resources’ lack. 

During the meeting of the GTT (Group Temporal de Trabajo) it was also evaluated the oxygen distribution for the treatment of patients who need this medical product. In other hand it was highlighted the community group’s work in the control of the home admitted cases in the neighborhoods.

Regarding the epidemiological situation in the province it was reported that after 10 298 samples tested this Monday, 899 were positive. All the patients are native and contacts of prior cases.

The meeting mostly focused on the epidemiological situation of Havana.

There were not reported cases with unknown infection source. 480 cases of the 899 confirmed ones were already vaccinated, which represents a 53.4%.

The incidence rate has decreased in most of the municipalities in the last 15 days. 42 workers of the Health Sector were reported positives, five of them have an institutional infection source. There are 14 active events in the province and 588 focus control. In the beginning of the day there were 275 epidemiological focus and at the end, 337, therefore closure date is extended due to the existence of positive cases in the day

9432 patients remain admitted in hospitals; 768 of them are children of which, 108 are under 1 year of age. 119 are assisted in the Intensive Care Units, 41 critical and 68 critically ill. Despite of the Health System efforts, there were reported 6 casualties whose evolution was analyzed in the meeting.
