In commemoration of the 95th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s birth, the Office of the Historian of Havana inaugurated the first three exhibitions rooms dedicated to Eusebio Leal.

With the presence of PCC and Government authorities, leaders of the Capital, and directors of the Office of the Historian of Havana, in the lobby where every day Eusebio Leal made his way to his modest office, Fidel’s historian, Katiuska Blanco, in an interview offered to Marta Resick, talked about the Historian’s relationship with the leader of the Cuban Revolution during the first time Fidel spoke to her about Leal, during the first meeting they had.

Later they visited the Honors Hall (Sala de los Honores), where Michel González recalled that the visitors used to wait there to be received by Eusebio Leal. In the center of the room, surrounded by a selection of distinctions and diplomas that many countries awarded to the Historian, there is the Medal he received as National Heroe of Work( Héroe Nacional del Trabajo).

A door gave us access to his office, full of memories and symbols: a statuette of José Marti, a small photograph of Fidel, the olive green cap Commander in Chief gave Leal, his favorite armchair, the gray shirt he always wore, the program of construction projects, where together with this team he planned the next dream to come true and the latest signed letter by him, just four days before he died.

At the entrance level of the building, two new exhibition rooms can be seen, the “Para no olvidar”room with the transitory exhibition “La llama del carisma” (The flame of charisma) presented by Ángel Calcines with images that give testimony the intimate and respectful friendship that gathered Fidel and Leal, and finally the Monographic Room (Sala Monográfica) where the origin and transformation of the building can be appreciated.

Undoubtedly, this is a gift for Cubans and visitors to visit Eusebio Leal House( Casa Eusebio Leal), who describe it as his final resting place,where he developed during the last years of life his incomparable rescuing work of the Cuban Heritage and he infinitely consecrated to his beloved homeland.
