During the Defense Council’s meeting, carried out in recent days, in Centro Habana municipality, an analysis and evaluation of the intervention process with vaccine candidate Abdala was presented.

Municipal and provincial institutions and organisms attended to the program which took place in the Palacio Central de Computación y Electrónica( Municipal Computing Center for people’s attendance to  courses and training in Computer Science).

During the meeting a conversation with Yolaine Makency, medical assistance specialist, was held who commented that “the process concluded with an amount of 88 663 vaccinated people, which represents more than the 98% of the inhabitants in the municipality.

Abdala vaccine candidate’s three doses were already applied, taking into account the compliance of the adherence protocol.

“It was a challenge never done before, we wouldn’t be able to accomplished it without the intersectoral support of the Education sector who worked side by side with us”, said Makency.

Students, nurses, stomatologists also participated in the process who put into practice the vaccination procedure with Abdala vaccine, she added.

Once the vaccination process in pregnant women and pending cases due to their comorbidities among other causes effectively has started in the Primary Health Care in the municipality, the process will effectively go on.

At the same time, organizations in the territory set proper conditions in order to initiate the process in September, applied to people that are allergic to Timerosal. 

It is still on hold the second and third phase of the pediatric candidates’ essay, therefore we haven’t concluded some of the projects yet in Centro Habana.

Summing up, she  highlighted  the work done by women that are affiliated to Cuban Women Federation(Federación de Mujeres Cubanas, FMC), who joined to doctors in the communities in the preventive work and also helped to assure sanitary measures comply due to  the epidemiological situation and the high contagion rate.
