Commemorative days begin for the 95th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz

A broad program of activities –including exhibitions, visits to historical places, virtual talks and actions on social networks- is part of the commemoratives days for the 95th anniversary of the birth of the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, which began on Monday and will include daily activities until August 15th.

During this week, the branch for the Asociación Hermanos Saíz ( AHS in Spanish)in Pinar del Rio, will hold a day on August 13th, dedicated to Fidel and brothers Luis and Sergio Saíz.

In addition, young creators of the country will make a tour to historical sites in Gramma which will have a special moment, when on August 13th, young people will climb Turquino’s Peak in salute to the date.

The National Council of Cultural Affairs also joins this celebration with the presentation of the call for the National Contest Fidel in my heart.

From this Tuesday until Saturday, August 14th, the Instituto Cubano del Libro is developing a day of virtual activities under the title Fidel and the Book, a space in which will be evoked the transcendental contribution  and encourage of the leader of the Cuban Revolution to the Sistema de Ediciones Territoriales, organization that celebrates its twenty-first anniversary.

On Wednesday, August 11th, at 11 a.m., at ALBA Cultural House( Casa del ALBA Cultural)in Havana, the book Fidel el muchacho de Biran, by author Angel Velazco, will be presented online under Gente Nueva publishing label.

From Facebook and Instagram profiles of the Consejo Nacional de Artes Plasticas, the Collage Habana art gallery of the Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales it will be available to the public the collective exhibition Carteles(Posters), made up of political, cultural and social content pieces that have as a common thread the image of our Commander in Chief submerged in different contexts.

According to a press release, this exhibition space located at San Rafael between Industria and Consulado, on Havana’s Boulevard, will allow in-person visits upon previous booking and in agreement with the institution normative of a reduced group of people, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Thursday,August 12th, the ALBA Cultural House will host the Encuentro con la Historia ( Encounter with History, a virtual talk dedicated to the legacy and imprint of the Father of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, led by historian Fabio Fernández Batista.

On August 12th and 13th, at 5p.m., at Centro de Patrimonio Cultural de la Habana, a children’s party called Animadas Fantasias Online(Animated Online Fantasies) will be held, in which children will participate wearing costumes and will participate in other amusing initiatives.

On Friday, August 13th, at the José Martí Memorial,the exhibition Mi foto con Fidel(My photo with Fidel)will be inaugurated; which gathers significant snapshots of the Revolution’s leader with music personalities and sponsored by the Instituto Cubano de la Musica(Cuban Institute of Music).

Likewise, at the Consejo Nacional de Escuelas de Arte, there will be posted “the tweet” held by the country’s arts schools in alliance with the Consejo Nacional de Casas de Cultura, for the anniversary of Fidel’s birth.

A painting exhibition called Cabalgando con Fidel(Riding with Fidel) will be displayed at the branch of the Asociacion Hermanos Saíz in Camaguey, with the participation of avant-garde and nouvelle artists from the territory.

The branch of the AHS IN Las Tunas proposes the cultural project Tu Mirada, in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of this center that brings together the young artist vanguard of the province.

Other actions carried out to commemorate the Cuban politician and revolutionary are the Ramon Zalazar’s virtual exhibit in the branch of AHS in Matanzas and the photographic exhibition Fidel, Hemigway y el Torneo de Pesca(Fidel, Hemingway and the Fishing Tournament), available on the social networks from Ernest Hemigway Museum.

From the digital plattforms of the Museo National de Artes Decorativas( Decorative Arts National Museum)in Havana, the exhibition Fidel and childhood, with decorative art that show the relationship between Fidel and the children.

The group exhibition Palabras, Imagenes y Posibilidades(Words, Images and Posibilities) will be exposed at the Biblioteca Nacional José Martí( José Martí National Library), sponsored by the El Reino de este Mundo gallery, the Fototeca de Cuba( Cuban Photo Library) and the Consejo Nacional de Artes Plásticas(Fine Arts National Council) with photographs that show the relationship between the Commander in Chief and Latin America and Cuban intelectuals.

From Santiago de Cuba, the Santiago de Cuba-Japan Cultural Day is being organized these days, including the online collective exhibition Vuelo del Este, a hymn to peace, recalling Fidel’s work ads promoter of Cuba-Asia relations.

The text called Un lider llamado Fidel Alejandro, will be presented, in the space known as Sábado del Libro, on August 14th. Its author is María Luisa García Moreno and it was published by Verde Olivo publishing house.

On Sunday August 15th, at 10 a.m., there will be a circus show Trompoloco de Fiesta, that will be posted on the Facebook site of the Festival Internacional Circuba and the Circo Nacional de Cuba.
