Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 4th, stated that, 8399(964-) new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 431 013.

To date, 3184 deaths by coronavirus (93 belong to the day) have been reported, and 45 632 (481- ) confirmed cases of which 45 255(99.1%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 8787(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 382 141 medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 150 critical patients and 257 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 1445(16+) belong to the capital, 1548(24+) all of them native. We regret 5 casualties by Coronavirus this Sunday.

Francisco Durán informed that, in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 thousands inhabitants increased to 1115%. He also added that La Lisa is the municipality with highest incidence rate (14.1) and 46 of the 265 active events are from the capital. For that reason he called the attention on the strict comply of the protection measures and social isolation because of the still high transmission which is spread in all its territories.

 The most affected municipalities in Habana were La Lisa (205), Boyeros (170), Arroyo Naranjo(161), Marianao(152), Playa(152), Centro Habana(136), Playa (125), Diez de Ocubre (115), Plaza de la Revolución(78),Habana del Este (75),San Miguel del Padrón(70),Guanabacoa(50),Cerro (41),       Habana Vieja(33), Regla(30), y Cotorro, 10.

 46 306 test were studied for Covid 19, with a result of 8 399 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 6 734 699 analyzed samples of which 431 013(6.4%) were positive.

8336(99.2%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases for a total of 8399 confirmed ones; reaching a total of 420 230(97.5%). 24 of the cases (0.3%) have its source of infection abroad for a total of 10 465 and 39(0.5%) of the cases have an unknown source of infection.

There were diagnosed 8375 native cases this Wednesday and 24 were imported of which 4373(52.1%) female and 4026(47.9%) male cases.

This Wednesday the amount of asymptomatic cases increased to a 5 %( 433), for a total of 108 274 which represents 25.6% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

100 823 patients remain hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 50 961 suspected cases, 4230 under medical watch. It has been confirmed 45 632(481- ) active cases of which 45 225 with a clinical stable evolution. An amount of 8787have been discharged from hospitals today, reaching the amount of 832 141(90.4%) medical discharges.

Of the 8399 confirmed cases, 1558 were under 20 years of age; 2479 between 20 and 39; 2755 between 40 and 59 and 1607, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 4th, 2021 is 0.75 % per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.13% for the world and the 2.59 % for the Americas region.
