With no pretensions in the achieved succes during the health intervention with the Abdala vaccine, both in the first and the second doses, a coverage of more than 95 % was achieved, ¨thanks to the efforts of all those who are involved in the process¨, said Dr. Serguei García Blando, a II Degree Specialist in General Integral Medicine, from the Municipal Health Direction of La Lisa.

Gracía Blanco considers that these results are shared with the professionals of the basic health group, members of the mass organizations, students from the differents universties in Havana, the support of the inhabitants in the diferent comunities and specially in the communities where it was possible the rehabilitation of some facilities to become vaccination and observation centers.

He said that 126 clinical sites wre chosen, made up of 141 vaccination sites, integrated by doctors, nurses, stomatologists, students and heatlth technologists.

La Lisa, with a population of a 76 887 people and taking into account the exclusion criteria establishesd for the Abdala protocol, in the first and the second doses, reached more than the 95%  coverage in both stages.

He specially thanked the cooperation of the women belonging to the Cuban Women Federation (FMC), to all those integrated to the Revolutionary Commitee of Defense (CDR) who helped to repair family doctor offices, in the summit of patients to the vaccination process according to the list, to the companies inside and outside the territory that facilitated the trasportation of the portions and the collection of the empty bulbs, which allowed arriving at the figure of 100 peope per day in every vaccination site.

These actions denomstrate the intersectoriality that characterizes the primary health care system, as well as it structure and strength in the midst of so many difficulties mainly caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the threats and the financial and economic blockade of the United States against Cuba, ¨but we are still able to overcome obstacles and move forward¨

He claims that the victory lays in the Cuban people´s health , protected by the hygienic-sanitary meassures and the vaccination with the Abdala candidate that has demostrated its effectiveness and it is tottaly made in Cuba.

As of July 20, vaccination with the third dose of Abdala began in the territory of La Lisa, a process in which 73 050 people will be vacinated in the destined sites for this purpose.

On this occasion, the aim is to achieve similar results than in previous stages and at the same time, to explain to the world that even when we are a country under a sever economic situation , we move forward in the sciences field and to date we proudly count on four vaccine candidates (Soberana 01 and 02, Soberana Plus and Mambisa), 100 % Cuban-made and with a proved safety and efficacy.

Doctor García considers that this triumph also constitute a way to commemorate our heroes on the 68th Anniversary of the Assault to the Guillermón Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks , next July 26.
