He said that until December 31, these products will be allowed to be imported by passengers and their accompanying luggage without import value limit and free of customs duties.

The limit will be set by the airlines, while maintaining the regulations on how to transport food, said Marrero Cruz, who added that to make use of this benefit, such products must be differentiated from the rest of the luggage.

He also stated that travelers arriving through the airports of Cayo Coco and Varadero have a maximum baggage allowance on one suitcase, since those flights are tourist flights, but for the rest of the country there will be no limits.

He explained that the importation of certain medicines is prohibited, as well as those products regulated by the phytosanitary and veterinary authorities due to the risk of introducing diseases into the country.

The current regulations established allow the importation of toiletries and food within the miscellaneous baggage up to a total of one thousand points per passenger added MARRERO Cruz who restated that the fare payments for the first importation are made in local currency.

He assured that this type of exception does not include imports with commercial character whose quantities are defined by type of article.
