Cuba develops its own UMELISA SARS-COV 2 antigen diagnostician

First 100 kits of the 100% Cuban diagnostic system, created by the Immunoassay Center, will soon be delivered to Empresa Distribuidora y Comercializadora de Medicamentos. In only 4 hours, this test identify the presence of the Sars Cov virus in asymptomatic suspicious patients.

The Immunoassay Center is preparing the conditions for the next delivery of the first 644 diagnostic kits with the purpose of contributing to the health and virus detection protocols in our country.

This first kits of UMELISA SARS-COV 2 antigen, completely integrated to health and virus detection protocols established in our country, will be soon delivered for distribution after exhaustive tests of effectiveness.

A broadcast by Cubavision International reflected that this biotechnological product validated by the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri is ready to contribute to the diagnosis of the suspicious patients.

This test, registered by the Center of State Control of Medicine, Equipment and Medical Devices, is fully capable of identify in just four hours the presence of virus in asymptomatic patients, said Irina Valdivia Álvarez, Deputy Director of the Diagnosis Services Development and Production Area.

Both the kit and the raw materials used for its development and manufacturing are 100% cuban, Irina added.

Some work is carried out on the next to batches of the product for this month, while the previous 644 kits are already in cold storage, the last stage to which they are subjected before delivery.
