Born in the town of Quivicán, while still a teenager, she moved to Havana, where she appeared in literary gatherings. Love is the main theme in her poetry, sincere and passionate. He was a founding member of the National Academy of Arts and Letters. All his work was collected in a volume with a prologue by Aurelia Castillo de González.

Quivicán

It is the head town of the municipality of the same name and is part of the province of Mayabeque. It was founded on September 2, 1569 when it was granted to Jerónimo Vaca Rengifo with the purpose of creating a ranch to raise cattle. On September 18, 1878, the Governor General approved the creation of Quivicán as a municipality. The relief of the territory is predominantly flat. The municipality has an area of 284.6 square kilometers.

Aurelia Castillo de González

She was born in the city of Camagüey on January 27, 1842. For her patriotic work she was expelled from Cuba by order of the Spanish Captain General Valeriano Weyler. Years later, when she returned to her native land, she joined the literary and journalistic work. Later she founded the National Academy of Arts and Letters.
