Quebec and Havana delve into the contribution of women to economic development

On July 8 and 9, the Quebec-Havana Crossed Looks forum will be held, a space to share inspiring experiences of women who play a key role in the economic development of both provinces in important sectors of the bilateral relationship.

The meeting also aims to identify the common traits between the parties, observing the exceptional trajectories of women who have managed to break through in environments traditionally dominated by men.

Promoting the cross-cutting issue of gender equality in all international cooperation and solidarity projects in which Cuban and Québec organizations participate is also a purpose of this forum.

Authorities and officials of the Provincial Government of Havana, the Ministry of Foreign Trade, as well as a representation of women linked to economic activities will participate on the Cuban side.

As part of the program, there will be a presentation of Femmesor, a Québec initiative created in 1995 to facilitate access to financing and advisory services for Québec women entrepreneurs and experiences of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in Havana.

Various panels will be held on the presence of women in the agricultural sector, science and innovation, culture, education, health and sports, as well as in the management of public and private companies.

A special intervention is also foreseen by Sylvie Barceló, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie (MRIF).
