Havana has 521 of the 816 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba

The doctor Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, April10th,  cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total of 86 531.

To date, 459 deceased were reported (six within the day), 5 212 (6%) were confirmed, of which 5158 (99,1%) have a clinically stable course, 847 patients were discharged, and we arrive to 80 805 (93, 4%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 32 patients in a critical state and 22 in a serious one.

As usual, the largest amount of PCR tests was done in the capital: 8 281 which is the 38, 8%, resulting in 521 confirmed cases, all of them were autochthonous. Due to the increase in the case amount, the presence, dispersion, and rising tendency in all municipalities, the province will continue to be in the epidemiological phase know as Limited Local Transmission Stage, also having the highest incidence rate which is 222, 1%,in the last 15 days, being lower than the one of the day before.

The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Arroyo Naranjo (71), Centro Habana (55), Boyeros (48), Habana del Este (46), Diez de Octubre (45), Habana Vieja (40), San Miguel del Padrón (33), Marianao (32), Lisa y Plaza de la Revolución (27 cada uno), Regla (25), Playa (24), Guanabacoa (21), Cerro (20), and Cotorro (7).

Nine of these municipalities are among the twelve where the 45, 3% of the COVID-19 incidence has been located in the last 15 days. These territories are: Habana Vieja, Regla, Centro Habana, San Miguel del Padrón, Arroyo Naranjo, Cerro, Marianao, Lisa, y Diez de Octubre.

 

The other confirmed cases belong to other provinces like: provincias Matanzas (106), Santiago de Cuba (62), Granma (56), Sancti Spíritus (34), Pinar del Río (30), Artemisa (28), Holguín (26), Cienfuegos (24), Villa Clara (17), Camagüey (16), Mayabeque (12), Ciego de Ávila y Las Tunas (12 cada una), and Guantánamo(five).

For the COVID-19, 21 487 samples were analyzed, and 959 were positive. The country has had a total of 3 213 345 samples analyzed, and 86 531of these were positive (2.69%).

Out of the total of confirmed cases 922 were contacts of other confirmed ones, 6 were infected abroad and 31 were infected by an undetermined source.

This Friday autochthonous cases were a total 953 and 6 were imported. Of these cases, 546 (56, 9 %) were female and 413 (43,1 %) were male.

COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until April 9th, is 0, 53% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.41%).

Habana del Este: 46 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Habana Vieja: 40 (contacts of confirmed cases).

La Lisa: 27 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Marianao: 32 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Playa: 24 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Plaza de La Revolución: 27 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Regla: 25 (contacts of confirmed cases).

San Miguel del Padrón: 33 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Until April 10th, it is confirmed that 190 countries and 29 territories present COVID-19 cases. There is a total of 135 799 911 confirmed cases ((+ 611 mil 997) with 23 614 645 active cases, and 2 934 676 deceased ((+ 8 mil 844) for a fatality rate of 2, 16 (=).

In the American continent, 58 954 996 cases were reported (+159 747), which is a 43, 41% of the total amount of cases confirmed worldwide, with 9 207 015 active and 1 422 565 deceased (+3 209) for a fatality rate of 2.41 (=).
