Manuel González Guerra was born in Havana.

In his youth he practiced various sports and in the nineteen fifties he held the presidency of the Baseball League of the Amateur Athletic Union of Cuba. He was appointed in 1963 President of the Cuban Olympic Committee. In 1973 he served as an effective member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Cuban Olympic Committee

It is an organization whose main objective is to represent the Cuban sports movement before the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It controls the participation of Cuban sport in official events, such as the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and Central American and Caribbean Games.Among its objectives are to promote and maintain the people’s interests in practicing sports and in sporting events.
