Emilio Martinez Martinez was born in Havana.
In the early twentieth century he holds the chairs of Microscopy, Clinical Chemistry and Medical Pathology. He manages to create the Chair of Throat, Nose and Ears in 1919 and establishes a practice room in the Calixto García Hospital. He is appointed Director of Health of the Republic, a position from which he organizes and directs campaigns against the smallpox epidemic that arose in some places on the island.
He was the creator of the Chair of Otolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Havana.
